BK National Coordinator Cielo Magno and BK Board Member Starjoan Villanueva were elected to international bodies during the recently held EITI Global Conference and Publish What You Pay General Assembly, respectively, last February 2016 in Lima, Peru.

Dr. Cielo Magno will sit as CSO representative to the international EITI multi-stakeholder group after serving as PWYP Global Council member. She will serve a 3-year term. Though met with protests from CSO representatives during the EITI Association Members Meeting last February 23, the election was later upheld by members of the EITI Association. The protest was sparked by the EITI Secretariat’s acceptance of CSO nominees without following due process.

Ms. Starj Villanueva, on the other hand, also won a seat at the PWYP Global Council during the regional caucus held last February 22. She will serve a 3-year term and will represent coalitions based in the Asia Pacific. The Asia Pacific coalitions currently includes PWYP Indonesia, PWYP Australia, and Bantay Kita – PWYP Philippines.

Both will still serve their currently held positions at Bantay Kita and in the Philippine EITI Multi-Stakeholder Group.
